Bio Brief

Greg Smith owns and operates Pros from Dover Productions, a film and music production company based in Rockville, Maryland.

Greg has worked as a producer, director, sound recordist and/or post-production editor on more than 60 feature films, documentaries and music videos for companies including IMAX, Lucasfilm, Paramount, Warner Bros. and National Geographic.   He is the IMAX lead astronaut audio trainer for NASA crews on the Space Shuttle and Internaitonal Space Station. 

 Greg has held senior staff positions at National Public Radio and CBS News, and is a staff recipient of two of journalism’s highest honors: the George Foster Peabody and Alfred I. duPont awards. 

 In addition to film and journalism, Greg has written and recorded six solo albums of original music, as well as theme music for NPR programs. Through his production company, Greg has scored a number of films and produced and/or performed on dozens of music projects in a variety of musical genres.

Since 2005, Greg has been an adjunct professor of film at The American University in Washington, D.C. He teaches a variety of courses for the School of Communication, including film production, music studio production and broadcast journalism, and has created and teaches a location film sound course.  He created and co-hosts a TV program for AU, “Greatest Scene Ever”, that explores some of the great films in American and international cinema.  He earned both a Master of Fine Arts degree in addition to a Master of Arts degree in Film Production at AU.
